Amani Initiative, founded in 2012, is a Ugandan indigenous NGO working to prevent and respond to harmful practices and barriers against children and women. Through community-led programs in education, health, human rights, and sustainable livelihoods, we keep children in school, prevent violence, and empower women economically.

Our “Community led” approach invests with communities to create lasting change. Guided by our values of community, integrity, accountability, dignity, and teamwork, we work with households, schools, health workers, development partners, private sector and local leaders to build a safer, more equitable Uganda—where everyone in particular at risk and vulnerable children and women can thrive.

Our Philosophy – Amani Initiative stands for the basic belief that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to reach their full potential.

Vision: – A society where every child and woman is safe, and empowered to thrive with dignity.

Mission: – To prevent and respond to harmful practices and barriers against children and women through integrated, community-led interventions.

Our Values

  • Community – We build solutions with the people we serve, not just for them.
  • Integrity – We act honestly, fairly, and respectfully in everything we do.

  • Dignity – We honor the worth of every person and treat everyone with respect.

    Our objectives

    • Objective 1.0: To ensure every child accesses, stays, and succeeds in school.
    • Objective 2.0: To prevent abuse, exploitation, and gender-based violence and ensure access to protection and justice.
    • Objective 3.0: To strengthen household income, resilience, and women’s leadership through sustainable livelihoods.
